The Straw Bag Craze is upon us! Have you purchased one yet?? Early Spring, I started seeing the straw bags and totes. I fell in love immediately. I could tell that this was going to be a trend that would hit big! I headed out to my favorite local boutiques praying to find the ones I was looking for, and the bags were so few and far between. As with any new trend, when it first launches, you can expect to find only a few and the prices are going to be high. I held off knowing that if I just waited a little while, other brands would launch their “look alikes” and the prices would be much more affordable. Just before Easter, I scored on my favorite circle straw purse that you may have seen in many of my pics. I ordered it from Gap, and ever since they have been sold out! Thankful that I got one, but unlucky for those who see my posts and can’t get it. So I’m going to link a few others below that are currently in stock and still so cute!
Do any of you have grandmothers or mothers from the 60’s? The straw tote was a popular trend then, and of course everything circles back. I have pics of my Nana in Mexico around 1964 carrying a straw tote that was purchased as a souvenir there. Today, very similar bags are in stores everywhere! They are the perfect summer bag to carry as a purse, or to use as a beach bag. The best thing about this handbag trend is that they are super affordable now and go with anything! So don’t be afraid to jump on this summer trend.
Stylist tip: It stays super hot here in Texas, so we can drag out our summer wear well into September. However, the straw bags are definitely a summer item so pack them away after Labor Day! Stuff the bag with tissue or grocery sacks and store them in a cool dry place for next summer!
