Father’s Day is Coming…and Here’s What My Dad Bought For Himself! 

I’m totally not kidding! So normally Father’s Day sneaks up on us since we are all in the midst of summer fun. I do what most everyone does, and that’s run out and buy another golf shirt, a new barbecue set (how many BBQ cooking tools does one man need?), or a new set of golf balls. My trouble is that my dad literally has everything!! Is anyone feeling my pain here?  However, this year he’s saved me. Well kind of.

Back in May,  my dad said as he’s hollering from the computer room,  “If anyone is looking for a gift for me for Father’s Day, I have an idea!” So he took it upon himself to order a very cool device from Amazon. It’s called the Weinas Chugod Smart Bluetooth Meat Thermometer. I’ll link it below. It’s actually pretty cool and a fun “toy” for any Dad who likes to BBQ or at least gets stuck outside in charge of the BBQ! What boy or man doesn’t like a new toy? And especially if it involves the satisfaction of the perfectly cooked steak! You put these probes in the meat while it cooks. You select on your smart phone (Apple or Android) what level of preparedness you choose. Then the app will alarm you when the meat is at the desired temp and ready to come off the grill. Very cool! Obviously I know this because Dad ordered the meat thermometer and has been proudly using it. It is a great deal for under $40. 

No longer had we gotten through May, when Dad came home with a bag full of clothes and announced, “Hey guys I caught a really good deal on some workout shirts and shorts I needed. Ya’ll can wrap these up for Father’s Day!”  Here we go again! Just like the BBQ probe, Mom and I knew we would still have to figure out at least something that he hadn’t picked himself. Other than some goofy elastic waist shorts that I made him take back, he did pick some nice things. Who knew my Dad was such a shopper? 

But wait….I’m not done. Yes, he bought himself one more thing! A Thermos Sipp Travel Insulated Travel Mug. He says “Because I needed one that would fit in my cupholder when I’m traveling. But ya’ll can give it to me for Father’s Day.” OMG! I probably would never have thought of the meat probe, but I sure would have bought a golf shirt, maybe shorts, and definitely could have purchased the coffee mug had I known he wanted one. This one is nice, he ordered it from Bed, Bath & Beyond for $29 with free shipping. Now what’s a girl gonna do? Do I just go along with Dad and let himself off on his big day because he’s already gifted himself all month? Or do I still look for that “perfect” Father’s Day gift?  

So here I am shopping for something that Dad hasn’t already bought for himself. I know better than to just agree with him and not buy him anything. Mom and I kind of do this same thing during Christmas shopping. I mean, who doesn’t throw in a thing or two for themselves while they are shopping for others on their list? Ok, maybe you don’t do that, but shhhhhh….don’t tell my dad! One thing I do know that Dad probably doesn’t is that Nordstrom Rack has designer sunglasses under $100 in many styles: Oakley, RayBan, and even Prada! He’s a sunglass freak, so I may go this route. I bought my Gucci ones there and get compliments on them daily. I’ll link them too! You won’t believe the prices!
